A Team - 11th
B Team - 13th
On 12th December, after making our way down to London in bits and pieces, the pre-comp excitement started. For myself and Stu this meant the BULSCA meeting, where there was some big decisions made (Aberdeen is no longer counting for the league), and for some of the others it involved travelling around a surprising number of London attractions with the torp buoy for novelty photos. Once everyone was collected in the London Union building we headed for a long stay in isolation, dodging tennis balls firing at us from a enthusiastic French cricket game. There was a seemingly endless, although scheduled, wait in isolation and at about tea time we made a start on the incidents.

The dry incident was a collapsed generator building, recreated very well in an ordinarily very boring room. The key to the incident was finding the button to switch the power (including the lights) off. Despite being armed with a torch, the A team missed the button completely, with the exception of Kirsty after her untimely incident death. The B team lost both their captain Liz and Simon (very unluckily). Within the incident there were several casualties including a head injury, a crush and an asthmatic, with an inhaler the other side of a collapsed overhead cable, lying across the room. Unfortunately, although there was no shortage of phones, there was a severe lack of signal. Straight into the wet, there was the 33m London pool with a broken arm, shock, locked swimmers, a drunkard (who was contained only with some difficulty), an unconscious, and a Bob resulting from a gone-wrong pool party.

It seemed that we were tight for time and some of us started getting our hopes up that the medley may be cut to 33m per leg rather that 66. Unfortunately, the heats were orchestrated with stunning speed though! The B-team put the A to shame in the ropes, getting all 4 of theirs out to the A team's 2, and in the medley Kirsty put our new fins into action! Probably the A-team highlight of the day was winning our heat of the swim-tow, beating a strong Birmingham A.
It was a quick change, even for the girls, and then on to amazing comp food- endless garlic pizza bread and salad, with a buffet of two pasta types. A real treat! At this point about half of our party headed to the train station whilst the remaining of us went to a meeting room to hear the results.
Then, it was on to the social and after a fair wait we got to a bar where the solo bar staff was made up for by the £1.50-for-all drinks. It all started off well- the only remaining Warwick competitors, myself and Simon- and we celebrated Jon's birthday by getting him excessive shots and providing him with the money for the rest of his drinks for the night. The DJ left early but thanks to Plymouth's I-Pod the night continued on. After this point the events of the evening become a little blurred thanks to the barman's invented shots!
