1) Are the proofs where you tell us to read the book rather than doing it in class examinable?

Lecture - 

1) Is [Figure of connected four-valent graph with two vertices, four edges, two of which are loops] = (S^1 \vee S^1) \vee S^1?

2) Sometimes in lectures you refer to for example a homotopy of a point and say this is a path, but I thought you had homotopies between 2 _maps_.
