Opportunities within the Geometric Analysis group Mathematics Institute - University of Warwick We currently have a large and active group in geometric analysis at Warwick, funded mainly by the Leverhulme Trust, EPSRC and the NSF. Funding may be available to support distinguished sabbatical visitors at any time, and UK PhD students starting in September 2012. The group also hosts postdocs and PhD students wishing to come with their own funds, and some pointers to sources of funding are given below. The Mathematics Institute has excellent international links with active seminar and workshop series and around 500 visitors per year. More information about group members this year is here.

Postdoctoral fellowships
PhD positions. We expect to offer PhD positions funded by EPSRC starting 1 Oct. 2012. The stipends are expected to last for 3.5 years. Supervision is available in diverse areas, including differential geometry, rigorous nonlinear PDE theory and geometric analysis. The geometric analysis group prefers candidates with a good undergraduate training in analysis and/or geometry. The positions are open to EU applicants. We pay the course fees for all successful EU applicants. In addition, we pay a stipend to successful applicants from the UK, and those from the EU who have lived in the UK for the past 3 years. Students from elsewhere who have raised their own funding are also welcome to apply. Other sources of funds for overseas students may be found here. The level of the stipends is still to be announced, but in 2010/2011 it is 13,590 GBP per year, tax free. The successful candidates will be able to devote their whole time to research. There are numerous opportunities to engage in small-group teaching at Warwick, but this is optional and additional payment will be made for this. Queries about the application process should be directed to the mathematics postgraduate admissions coordinator: Carole Fisher, postgrad@maths.warwick.ac.uk Candidates are encouraged to apply, or make an expression of interest, as early in the academic year as possible. The awards may be made at any time.
