Adrienne MOLE (BSc Mathematics)

Dear Mr Knell-Ophsa

I have known Adrienne Mole since October 1999 in my capacity as Lecturer and Personal Tutor in the Department of Mathematics at the University of Warwick. Adrienne is an intelligent and conscientious student who consistently produces good work. In progress examinations at the end of her firt year she achieved a 2(ii) classification, which she then improved to a 2(i) in second year examinations. She graduates in July 2000 and should gain a good Second Class Degree. Her examination performances, course work, and contributions to class discussion display her ability to understand difficult mathematical ideas and reflect a thoughtful and perceptive analysis of both conceptual and practical problems.

During her undergraduate studies Adrienne has shown a wide range of interests. In addition to a solid core of Pure and Applied Mathematics, she took courses in Programming and in Sex and Gender Roles. In this, her third and final year, she has selected options in Finance and Accountancy, Film Studies, and Applied Developmental Psychology. In her project, which represenst 25% of her final year credit, Adrienne is producing a theoretical model to explain the inverse relationship between intelligence quotas and the salaries paid to accountants; her work demonstrates an ability to deal with the methodological and practical problems of research.

Adrienne has an attractive personality and an outgoing manner which enables her to get on well with everyone she comes nto contact with. She entered University as a mature student, having qualified as a Registered General Nurse, and she has a practical approach to work and life in general. Whilst at Warwick she played an active and responsible part in the life of the Department and elsewhere. She has good administrative and organisational skills and has acted as a representative of the Staff/Student Liason Committee. She also organised publicity for the Women's Group and was instrumental in setting up a Parent's Society on the campus.

In view of her personal qualities, academic ability, and her potential as an administrator and as a researcher, I strongly support her application to Accountants-Rule-the-World for a position as a trainee accountant. This information is given in good faith and in strict confidence, but without liability of the University of Warwick.

Yours sincerely,

David Lecturer
