Warwick and the Environment

In 1999, at my instigation, the University set up an Environmental `Ginger Group' to coordinate,
publicise and generally further all aspects of of good environmental practice in the University. Issues
addressed included recycling, sustainable transport, and formulation of the University Environmental Policy.
In 2001 the group became an official University committee and since then has gone from strength to strength.
In April 2005, Warwick joined 19 other universities in a Carbon Trust project with the target of reducing
emissions by 10% over five years. In 2006 the University appointed its first full time Environment Officer,
and an updated version of the Environment Policy was signed in May 2007 by Professor Nigel Thrift,
the Vice-Chancellor. For the full range of the environmental activities, see Warwick and the Environment .

I am a member of the Environment & Amenities' Committee .
