Hughes, a former senior technical records clerk with John Summers & Sons (BSC) steelworks, Shotton. It was delivered by Mr Hughes on the 25th June 1992. The Modern Records Centre uses a classification scheme which is compatible with ISAD(G): General International Standard Archival Description (2000). For further details see the Centre's web pages. An interim list is available in paper format in the Centre's searchroom. The list identifies minutes series and some other categories, but the bulk of the deposit is described in random fashion in a group of boxes (1-13) classified as MSS.316/3, correspondence and papers. Hughes, the depositor, was a member of the TUC Steel Industry Consultative Committee Shotton, 1973-80, in which capacity he was closely involved in the preparation and presentation of alternative strategies for the future of the works. He was also Chairman of the Action Committee, 1976-80 and served as secretary and chairman of the 1970 Hawarden Central (Unemployed) branch. The deposit reflects all these activities, and work in connection with Bidston Steel Mill closure.
