RESEARCHING THE RESEARCHERS: AN INTRODUCTION TO THE ARCS PROJECT Who are contract researchers? And what do they do? How do they feel about their work and what are their career aspirations? These are interesting questions, not least of all to other contract researchers. Their answers and a whole lot more, will be provided by the ARCS (Academic Research Careers in Scotland) project. This Bulletin provides some information about the progress of the research and describes some of its early findings. It is hoped that the Bulletin will be of interest to those research staff in Scotland who responded to the first ARCS survey, to other contract research staff elsewhere and all those with an interest in research, higher education and employment issues. |
