This is a EU-funded project that evaluates the qualitative experiences of community media in Britain and Germany. Dr. Isabelle Rigoni, EU Marie Curie Research Fellow at CRER and associate researcher at the Maghreb-Europe Institute (University Paris 8) and at the Centre on Gender and Social Relations (GERS-IRESCO, Paris), is conducting this programme.

The study involves a comprehensive assessment of the creation and the development of community media. The main key issue is the creation of community media as alternative forms of participation in the society, both at the local, national and transnational levels. The field work is focused on the Muslim media as well as on the Turkish-language media (newspapers, radio and television broadcasts, websites).

The research will be completed by Septembre 2003.
