Agnieszka's research interests lie at the interface of sociology, applied ethics and health services research. Her particular focus is on ethics and values in clinical practice, ethical decision making, organisation and delivery of care, and qualitative health and empirical ethics research. Agnieszka has worked on a number of projects related to person-centred medicine, patient and provider experience, access to urgent care, virtues and values in medical practice and ethical challenges of digital communication in patient-clinician communication for NHS providers of specialist care. Most recently, she has been leading on a systematic review of existing measures and models of evaluation of interventions to improve ethical decision making in clinical care.
In 2016, Agnieszka was awarded a prestigious Newton Fund post-doctoral fellowship to work at the University of Witwatersrand in Johannesburg, South Africa. She spent 3 months with the Centre for Health Policy and the Steve Biko Centre for Bioethics, and researched the everyday ethical challenges of providing care in resource poor primary care setting in rural South Africa. Alongside her research, Agnieszka serves as a Qualitative and Patient and Public Involvement (PPI) advisor for the West Midlands Research Design Service (RDS). She provides research design advice to those preparing proposals for submission to peer-reviewed funding competitions for applied health and social care. Agnieszka also coordinates the University/User Teaching and Research Action Partnership (UNTRAP), which fosters links between service users, carers, academics and professionals. In her role as a PPI advisor, she encourages and supports academics and researchers to work with members of the public and patients in designing and undertaking their research.
